Margaret R. (Rasmussen) Shonsey, 98 years, of Central City, NE passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Cottonwood Estate in Central City, NE. Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clarks, NE. Father David Fulton will officiate. Memorial visitation will be Tuesday from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. with a Rosary starting at 7 P.M. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clarks. Burial will be at a later date with the family. Margaret was born to Art and Ruth (McDermott) Rasmussen on September 2, 1920 at the family farm and graduated from Wahoo Public School in 1937. After high school she attended Luther College and UNL. She taught school at a Country School for a year, Valley, Wymore, and Clarks and many years of substituting. On December 26, 1945 she married Michael H. Shonsey. The couple resided on a farm near Clarks, where they raised their 5 children.

Margaret loved cooking, reading, gardening, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clarks.

Survivors include: sons, Mick(Barb)Shonsey of Omaha, Matt(Kathy)Shonsey of Grand Island, daughters, Mary(Greg)Douglas of Clarks, Denise Bogard of Roseville, California and Anne(Walt)Bailey of Omaha; grandchildren: Jason, Erin, Judd, Erica, Willie, Jenna, Amanda, Jessica, Rachel, Jake, Michael, Myles, and Meg, and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, grandson Jerry Bogard; and sisters Mildred Hoban, Gladys Dunovan, Ellen Kruce, Dorothy Malm and Lorraine Vech.
