A Memorial Service for Norris Silverberg will be held, on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, Holdrege, Nebraska, with Pastor Jan Gluth King officiating.
A private immediate family inurnment will be held prior to the service at the Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege.

Norris passed away at 89 years of age, on Monday, April 21, 2025 at UNMC, after complications from a stroke he suffered at his residence at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home in Bellevue, Nebraska, which he had resided at since February 26, 2025.
Nore (as he was better known as) was born in Genoa, Nebraska, the oldest child of Carl and Minnie (Iverson) on September 30, 1935. He was raised on a farm outside of Genoa. He graduated with the Genoa High school Class of 1953. He then went on to attend college at Luther Junior College at Wahoo, Nebraska and studied agriculture. It was there he met Phyllis Holen and they were married August 2, 1958 in Bertrand, Nebraska at the Immanuel Lutheran church. They were married 65 years when Phyllis passed away, May 6, 2024.
The couple lived in Hastings, NE, Elm Creek, NE, and Holdrege, since 1968. Nore worked for Wheeler Trucking in Hastings, Gardner Lumber Company in Elm Creek, and as an implement dealer and then as a maintenance/groundskeeper for the Phelps County Ag Society, before retiring in 2007. Through the years, he continued to serve as a volunteer fireman in Elm Creek, and Holdrege, for a total of 50 years.
Nore was a Veteran and served his country in the Army. He was devoted to reading his Bible every day and was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege. He loved serving as an usher and in the sound and video booth for almost 40 years. He loved to hunt and fish and the outdoors. He made lifelong friendships through these hobbies and serving opportunities. His true passion was to fix things and he "created" many gadgets and tools to help make life easier for many!
Nore was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Phyllis. He is survived by his brother, Richard (Betty) of Columbus, Nebraska; his children: Ann Larson (Jim) of Papillion, Nebraska, and Gregg Silverberg of Lincoln; two grandchildren: Mark (Ashley) Larson of Lincoln, and Bethany (Greg) Schlegel of Grand Island; five great-grandchildren: Lily, Sam and Liam of Lincoln; and Lucy and Levi Schlegel of Grand Island; along with nieces and nephews, and many friends, that he enjoyed good visits with through the years.
A memorial book signing and family greeting will be held prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church.
The family has requested no flowers. Memorials can be designated and will be given to: Bethel Lutheran Church, the Holdrege Volunteer Fire Department, or the Phelps County Senior Center.
