Priscilla Lynne (Sommerfeld) Warren was born to LeRoy and Margaret (Korn) Sommerfeld on March 8, 1957, in Norfolk. Priscilla passed away on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at Tekamah Health and Rehabilitation Center in Tekamah at the age of 60, after battling with Alzheimer’s disease. She was one of five children.
Priscilla was raised in Norfolk, where she was baptized and confirmed at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. She attended Norfolk High School, graduating in 1975. She attended Northeast Community College of Norfolk, graduating in 1977 with an associate degree. She received her bachelor’s degree in music education in 1979 at Midland Lutheran College of Fremont.
On June 2, 1979, she married Leslie Paul Warren at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. They spent their 38-1/2 years of marriage in Tekamah. Priscilla was the mother of four children: Collin, Angela, Paige and Ethan.
Priscilla began her career at 6R school working in Head Start. She then went on to work at Lyons-Decatur Schools teaching music. She began working at Tekamah-Herman Schools in 1987, teaching elementary music in both Tekamah and Herman. Priscilla worked for the Tekamah-Herman School system for 28 years. She also worked at Save More Market in Tekamah for several years.
Everyone who knew Priscilla knows how much she enjoyed teaching music to the kids of Tekamah and Herman. She created so many amazing concerts for the kids of these schools. Priscilla enjoyed teaching her children different musical instruments, doing 4-H projects throughout the years, watching sporting events and anything that involved her spouse, children and grandchildren. Family was everything to her.
Priscilla also blessed many with her musical education talents serving the Lord and His church as a pianist, organist and a teacher of children. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of rural Lyons.
Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Margaret; in-laws, John and Darleen Warren; and a brother-in-law, Lonnie Bucy.
