Robert RowanRobert D. Rowan, 76, of Omaha, formerly of Gothenburg, died August 17, 2019 in Omaha.

He was born February 23, 1943 in Cozad, son of Walter Charles and Doris Grace (Malcom) Rowan.

Bob grew up Northeast of Gothenburg on the family dairy farm and attended school in Gothenburg graduating from Gothenburg High School in 1961. Following high school he attended college at Midland College where he played football for one year. Then he went to Kearney earning his bachelors in Education. He married Jean Deaver on August 10, 1963.

After finishing college they moved to Omaha where he began teaching at Beverage Junior high. Bob continued with his education earning his Masters in Administration from UNO. He then served as an assistant principle. During this time they were blessed with three children; Kirk, Kristen,and Michaela. In 1977 they moved to Gothenburg where he ran the fertilizer business, Deaver and Rowan, with his Brother-in-aw, Tom Deaver for 9 years. He then owned and operated Park View Villa in Gothenburg for 20 years before he retired. They then moved to Omaha in 2008.

Bob was an active member of Our lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Gothenburg for years and St. Geralds Catholic Church in Omaha. Bob loved his family passionately. Bob lived his example of deep faith by showing love and compassion for everyone he met.

Survivors include his wife Jean Rowan of Omaha; Son, Kirk Rowan of Omaha; two daughters, Kristen (Jarrid) Rickertsen of Gothenburg and Michaela (Murray) Fletcher of Elmwood; brother, Ted Rowan of Brady; sister, Katherine Belden of Gothenburg; nine grand children; Katelyn, Karlie, Kole Rowan, Faith,Iva, Blake Rickertsen, Reid, Clayton, Karissa Fletcher, and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Doris Rowan; and a sister-in-law Linda Rowan.

Registrar Book signing with the family receiving visitors will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2019, Our Lady of Good Counsel, 1915 Ave J, Gothenburg, NE.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 22, 2019, at Our Lady of Good Counsel with Father Don O’Brien officiating with a 10 a.m. Rosary prior to the service.

Interment will take place in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
