Alumni Spotlight: Maggie (Hiatt) Lipsys ’21
As a college student, Maggie (Hiatt) Lipsys ’21, realized her dream of playing for a national championship on the volleyball court. Now in her professional world, Maggie is helping people realize their own dreams of buying a home.
Maggie works as an Associate Broker/Owner at Don Peterson & Associates in Fremont. “Being a part of big milestones in my client’s lives is very rewarding to me, and I absolutely love what I get to do each day.”
Originally from Springfield, Nebraska, the opportunity to play volleyball, and stay close to home, drew her to Midland. “I wanted to attend a smaller school relatively close to home. Finding a university where I could continue my athletic career, and feel connected to the professors and community, was very important to me. Midland gave me this, and so much more.”
As part of the Warrior volleyball team, Maggie and her teammates earned a spot in the 2020 NAIA national championship game, finishing the season as runners-up. “Being a part of that team was an experience I will never forget. The support that I received, on and off the court, from my coaches, teammates, and peers at Midland is unmatched.”
Maggie met her husband, Chase ’22, while at Midland. Along with spending time with her family, which includes their dog (Bailey), Maggie enjoys grabbing an iced hazelnut latte, reading, shopping, and watching early 2000s rom-coms.
Her path at Midland led her to a world in real estate that she embraces every day. “If someone would have told my college-sophomore self that I would soon get my real estate license, obtain my broker’s license, and become the youngest partner at Don Peterson & Associates, I would have asked you to pinch me!
“Midland encouraged me to put myself in the community and find out what I was interested in. I was taught to brand and market myself to stand out and this has translated to my everyday life. Upon graduation, I felt very prepared to put myself into the professional community and step right up.”
She wants her time at Midland, and motivation to succeed, to be a lesson to current Midland students. “I have become a resource for Midland professors and students to connect with regarding my career in real estate. Being an inspiration and example of what you can accomplish at a young age makes me extremely proud of my current, and younger, self.”
